Kenema Online ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information You Provide Directly

When you use the “Submit a Story” form, we collect:

• Your full name
• Your school name (or “other” school name)
• Your leadership role (if applicable)
• Your year as a prefect/leader
• Your email address
• Your phone number (optional)
• Any message or memory you choose to share

When you use the “Leave a Memory” (tribute) form:

• Only authorized administrators of Kenema Online can submit tributes.
• We collect the name, email (optional), relationship, and message provided by the administrator.
• All tribute submissions are reviewed and approved before being displayed.

When you use the “Send Feedback” form, we collect:

• Your name (optional)
• Your email (optional)
• The feedback type and your message

b. Information We Do NOT Collect (for now)
We do not automatically collect:

• Device identifiers (e.g., IMEI, Android ID)
• Location data
• Browsing history or app usage analytics
• Contacts or photos from your device

If we later add features that collect such information (like push notifications), we will update this policy and seek your consent where required.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide to:

• Contact you regarding your submission (e.g., to schedule a portrait session or ask for clarification)
• Create featured profiles (with your explicit consent) that appear in the App’s gallery
• Display approved tributes on the profile pages of featured leaders
• Respond to feedback and improve the App
• Improve the App based on feedback
• Respond to your inquiries

We will never sell or rent your personal information to third parties.

3. Featured Profiles (Portraits)

When we feature you as a student leader in the App:

• We will display your name, school, leadership role, year, a quote, a short biography, and your portrait photograph.
• This content is published only after we obtain your explicit consent (usually via email or in‑person conversation).
• If you later wish to have your profile removed or updated, please contact us using the details below.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your information is stored securely using Supabase, a database service that employs industry‑standard security measures. We use row‑level security and access controls to protect your data.

While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not share your personal information with third parties except:

• When required by law (e.g., a valid court order)
• To protect the rights, property, or safety of Kenema Online, its users, or the public

Featured profile information (name, school, portrait, etc.) is visible to all App users, as is approved tribute content. You acknowledge this when you consent to be featured or when you submit a tribute.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data (unless we need to retain it for legal reasons)
• Withdraw consent for future processing

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy in the App and updating the "Last updated" date at the top.
